Nevada PTA awards

PTA leaders and members bring innovative services to our kids, to our schools, and to our communities each and every day.  Nevada PTA’s Awards Program is designed to recognize and share PTAs’ special programs and achievements, and to honor the people that help to make your schools and communities better for children.  

Nevada PTA Awards At a Glance

Nevada PTA offers many awards to recognize the contributions of units, members and community members who support the mission and purposes of PTA.  These awards are great ways to recognize not only the work of individuals or units. All units in good standing are eligible to receive recognition.  

HOW TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION – Please use the following link to download and review the complete awards packet with award requirements.  Click the appropriate button to use the online form to apply for awards. Please make sure you have reviewed the requirements and submit all required information for your nominee to be properly evaluated by the Awards Committee.

Nevada PTA Achievement Awards

Achievement Awards recognize PTA units that focus on the mission, values and the Purposes of PTA.

  • Outstanding PTA Achievement Award: Awarded to a PTA who qualifies for the Gold PTA achievement award, and has an increase in membership, and participated in three (3) National or Nevada PTA Sponsored activities.

  • Gold PTA Achievement Award: Complete two (2) activities for each of the five Purposes of PTA.

  • Silver PTA Achievement Award: Complete one (1) activity for each of the five Purposes of PTA

Nevada PTA Recognition Awards 

Individual Recognition Awards

  • Ann T. Lynch Outstanding PTA Parent Award: Parent, grandparent, guardian or other volunteer that provided outstanding service to a school or PTA and assisted in promoting the National Standards for Family-School Partnerships.

  • Youth Volunteer Award: Nominees for this award are students who are active in school and within the community.
  • Teacher of the Year Award: Teacher who effectively promotes National Standards for Family – School Partnerships.

  • Lynel Cunningham Site Administrator of the Year: Administrator who most effectively promotes National PTA Standards for Family-School Partnerships

  • Debbie Smith Leader in Educational Advocacy Award: Awarded to an individual in educational or governmental leadership for their commitment to education advocacy consistent with PTA’s mission and values. 

PTA Unit Recognition Awards

  • Hank Etchemendy Advocacy Award: Given to a PTA, volunteer, or other public official who has championed a cause that benefits children in the local area or throughout the state of Nevada. 

  • Bob Huwe Community Engagement Award: PTA and community organization, business or individual that collaborated to strengthen National PTA Family-School Partnerships. This is a collaboration award that requires two nominees, a PTA unit and a community organization or business.

  • Bob and Sandy Miller Diversity and Family Engagement Award:  Recognizes a unit, individuals or group who have committed to embracing, enhancing, and celebrating diversity and family engagement at our schools.

  • Brenda Talley Arts In Focus Award: Awarded to a PTA that exhibited great focus and dedication to promoting the arts within their school community through programs such as, but not limited to, the National PTA Reflections Art Contest. 

  • Rookie of the Year Award: Applicants for this award are units in their first 2 years of charter, or re-charter. The Rookie of the Year Award recognizes a local unit that promotes PTA’s mission and purposes through family engagement, advocacy and
    volunteerism. 

  • Virtually Together Award: Awarded to a PTA that showed great support to its school community during the pandemic brought on by the pandemic.

Nevada PTA Membership Awards

Recognition for the great job your PTA is doing with PTA membership this year!

  • Building a Better Community Award: Given to PTAs that have shown that they embrace this philosophy by making it their goal to reach out to their communities and to bring in members that are neither parents, teachers, nor students, but still feel that they are stakeholders in the education and well-being of all children.

  • Men Matter Membership Award: Given to PTAs that foster a positive atmosphere for, and actively recruiting membership of, men in their PTAs. 

  • Apple Award – Recognizes PTAs with 100% staff membership. 

  • Membership Campaign of the Year Award – This award recognizes PTAs that have an outstanding membership campaign, which not only increases membership, but promotes PTA and its purpose throughout the school and community.

Membership Awards that Your PTA Doesn’t Need to Apply For:

  • Membership Increase: PTA that has more members for the current membership year than the previous year.

  • Membership Award:  Given to 3 PTAs (one from each region) with the most members.
