Reflections: "I can make a difference by.

Reflections, a national PTA program which promotes the arts; visual, spatial, auditory and language is one of PTA's most successful campaigns and a favored program for Nevada PTAs. 

Each year local units encourage the children in their PTAs to paint, draw, compose, write, sculpt and design projects that will be submitted to their own Reflections judges for certificates or awards.  Local unit winners are then sent to the State PTA for another round of critiques by renowned Nevada artisans and leaders of the State arts community.  Celebrations take place in several local areas where State Reflections winners are honored with awards and certificates.  Three exceptional entries are judged at the State level to be above all others and are then presented to the National PTA Reflections committee for judging against Reflections entries from around the country.

Reflections is a great way for individuals to get involved with their local PTA, to get your unit more actively involved with the State and National PTAs, and for children to become more aware of the arts and it's impact on their personal lives.

 Of the 525 entries that were submitted statewide for judging, 94 entries are receiving awards. Award of Excellence winners will receive a plaque and a ribbon. The Award of Merit winners will receive a certificate and a ribbon.  One Award of Excellence winner in each category will be honored for outstanding interpretation of the theme. Entries will be displayed at the receptions and at the state PTA convention.  The 22 Award of Excellence entries have been sent to National PTA for judging.

 Entries have been sorted and are ready to be picked from the Nevada PTA office in Las Vegas.  Entries from the north and rural areas of the state will be returned directly to the Reflections chairs. The original Visual Art and Photography entries, however, will remain at the state PTA office until after judging is completed at the national level.

 The Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program.  It offers the opportunity to showcase the importance of arts in education.  Since its inception in 1969, millions of students have participated in the program.  The Reflections Program enhances a school’s arts program by giving students a sense of achievement and recognition.
